Evan goes to sea!

Jacob, Kim and Evan went with us to Jekyll yesterday afternoon. We got a room at the Oceanside Inn and Suites and spent the night. The room was on the 2nd floor and had a balcony that looked out onto the ocean. We got to Jekyll just about dark on Sunday afternoon and went for a walk on the beach. It was a bit cloudy but the moon was bright enough for us to see. We took Evan out but he fell asleep about halfway through the walk. Early this morning we took him out on the balcony for his first good look at the ocean. He took in all the details as usual. He really liked the seagulls that were flying near our balcony. We all went for an early morning stroll on the beach. Evan loved watching the waves. He would get really excited when one rolled up close to his stroller. Jacob took him out of the stroller and stuck his feet in the ocean but it was really cold water so Evan wasn't too happy about that . We found a dead fish (Jacob said it was a sturgeon) on the beach. Jacob showed it to Evan. Evan was fine looking at it from afar but didn't like it too well when Jacob tried to give him an up close look. It started drizzling rain while we were walking on the beach so we had to head back to the hotel. We checked out and went over to St. Simon's. We had breakfast at the 4th of May then walked around the shops and the pier on St. Simon's. Evan got him some beach shoes. He had a good time playing with them on the way back home.

First Taste of Dirt

After working hard on the tractor and watching his mama, daddy, Aunt Courtney and Uncle Sam play some pretty bad football, Evan went into the backyard to admire the jonquils. While he was there he tried eating a little dirt. He didn't seem to like it too much but did like playing with Aunt Courtney and admiring the flowers! If you're wondering what Aunt Courtney is wearing, it is an old clown suit that we made when she was in elementary school. Don't ask me what possessed her to pull it out and put it on.

Little Farmer Evan

Evan had his first experience driving a tractor today. Grandaddy plow

ed the garden and the road today so while he was off the tractor Evan checked it out. He examined everything within his reach. Then he got on the tractor with Grandaddy. He was having fun until Grandaddy cranked the tractor. He wasn't too sure about all the noise at first but after listening a minute he was back to having fun!

Jacob's birthday dinner

We had a birthday dinner for Jacob this saturday. Evan enjoyed sitting in his antique high chair (even his grandma treesy once sat in that high chair!) eating crackers while the rest of us had one of Jacob's favorite meals. We just got half of a cow so we had country fried steak. We also cooked him his favorite blueberry cake. After lunch Evan had fun playing hide and seek under Jacob's chair.

Helping Grandma Bake a Cake

Evan helped Grandma make his daddy's birthday cake. Of course, he had to help with the cleaning up too!

Pear Lovers

We have some serious pear lovers in our family. One evening Jacob, Kim and Courtney were all eating pears. Evan had to have some too! As you can see he loved them!
