Super Evan

Evan has been sick for the past couple of days with hand foot and mouth disease. His mouth has blisters in it and is very painful. Yesterday afternoon he began feeling better and came over with his mom to visit us. He did some painting with water colors and made some beautiful pictures for me and his mom. Then he had his mom paint him some penquins and a monster. While he was painting I had made some bread in a jar for gifts and Kim had cut some cloth for me to use to decorate the jars. She tied the left over cloth around Evan's neck and he suddenly became "Super Evan". He was just a blur running through the house with his cape flying behind him.

Supper Table

.
Sunday afternoon I went over to Jacob and Kim's to help Kim make some snowmen for Christmas presents. When Evan got up from his nap he joined our snowman making project. We got a step stool and pulled it up to the counter so he could help. I would hold the sock open and he put the beans into the sock one handful at a time then pushed the stuffing down into the sock. His whole arm would disappear into the sock when he put the stuffing in! After he had filled the sock with stuffing he held it up for me to tie and trim the top. Then he passed the snowman to his mama. We let her do the creative, artistic parts. Evan did help put on a few noses! When we finished our snowman project I told Kim I was going to head home. Evan wanted to go to Mimi's house so, of course, I couldn't say no! We buckled up in the car and headed to Mimi's house. By the time we got home it was about supper time so we got us a bite to eat. Evan didn't want to sit at the big table and I didn't want him running around the house while he ate. So, we got a bit creative and made him his own private dining area. Evan was happy and so was Mimi!

Daddy's Cars

Billy made these wooden cars along with a wooden ferry boat for Jacob when he was not much older than Evan is now. Jacob and Courtney had many hours of fun with these. As you can see from the pictures Evan enjoys them just as much now!

Tool Time

Billy made this tool box for Jacob when he was a small boy. Evan absolutely loves it! He uses the tools to fix all kinds of things...even his horsey!

Halloween 2009

Once upon a time a monkey went to a Fall Festival. It was a warm muggy night.

The monkey loved fishing!
and...sliding on the kiddie slide.

The Monkey was sad when the kiddie slide was too crowded because he wanted to slide again! Daddy made the monkey happy by taking him on the big kid slide as you will see in a minute.
The monkey got too hot and decided to shed his skin. His lucky mama won on the cupcake walk and shared her winnings.
The monkey finally got tired and was ready to go home. He and granddaddy decided to take a little rest while they waited for daddy to pick them up! The little monkey was tired but happy and headed home wearing his cupcake on his face!

Watch the monkey and his daddy come flying down the big kid slide!

Here the monkey's cupcake boogie helps his mama win a prize on the cupcake walk!

Bulldog Story

Evan stayed with us for a while yesterday afternoon while his mama and daddy played tennis in Macon. After school we went riding through all the mud puddles on the Mule and eventually wound up at his house. We spotted a white bulldog curled up on the front porch and since we didn' t know the dog we decided to head on back to our house. When Billy got home we went out to eat supper and then out to the horse auction for Evan to see the horses. He climbed the fences, played in the dirt and was amazed by the big horses. By this time it was around 7:30 so we headed home to take a bath. By the time we got home he was starting to fade and began to get a bit grumpy. He wanted his milk, refused to take a bath and then just sat on the floor snuffling. Billy and I tried to tease him out of it and finally I suggested we go to his house thinking he might go to bed if he was at his own house. So, Evan and I headed over to his house. When we drove up to the carport we saw the white bulldog again. Unfortunately, this time, she blocked the only door I had a key to. I tried honking the horn, yelling at her then waited for our dogs to get there thinking they would run her off. Well no....they liked her. Evan said the dogs were friends. I finally got out of the car and slowly approached the dog but as I got closer she started to growl. I quickly got back in the car. Evan and I discussed what we should do and he said, "We need Granddaddy!" So, we headed back to get Granddaddy. Billy said he would take the gun over and shoot it to scare the dog away. While Billy was getting the gun, I talked to Evan about how loud the gun would be when Granddaddy shot it and told him we would put our hands over our ears when he did so we wouldn't get scared. Evan promptly put his hands over his ears and kept them that way all the way back to his house. He and I stayed back in the car while Grandaddy drove the truck up to the carport. He got out and tried to scare the dog away without the gun first. The dog didn't budge. Finally he decide he would go around back and come on the screen porch and scare the dog away from inside. That finally worked. The dog ran off around the house. Evan, of course was watching the whole thing and when we finally got out of the car he said, "Granddaddy a tough man!" He and I decided to stay at his house while Granddaddy came home. He told Granddaddy he would "protect" me! So we snuggled on the couch, flew fire engines in the sky and sang "Snap, snap, crocodile fishing!" until mama and daddy got home!

Evan at Tugaloo!

Evan enjoyed a boat ride on Uncle Mike and Aunt Karen's pontoon boat. He had eagerly awaited his boat ride for a whole day.

Granddaddy had to hang on tight as he looked over the side of the boat!
Mama and daddy got a kick out of how much he enjoyed the boat!

But...the boat lulled him to sleep!

Its Never to Cold for a Child!

Evan is spending the weekend with us while his mom and dad play tennis on Hilton Head. This morning he found the float in Jacob's old room and wanted to go floating on the pond. I tried to convince him it was too cold. We went outside to check and he said "Its not too cold!". So we got the float and Billy tied a rope to it so he didn't have to get in the pond. We put Evan on the float and Billy pulled him around. When the water starting getting up on the float Evan decided it was time to get out. Guess it was a bit cold to him after all !

Evan & the truck!

Evan went to church with us this morning then we came home and made Kim a birthday dinner. Evan was really sleepy by the time we got home and got lunch ready so he didn't eat much. Kim put him down for a nap around 2 and he slept until after 5. When he woke up he was really grumpy because he was hungry but he was too grumpy to eat. Granddaddy had the bright idea of eating in the back of the truck. Evan face just lit up when granddaddy suggested this. So off the two of them went to the back of the truck with Evan's supper. Evan had a ball playing in the back of the truck and occasionally taking a bite of his food then sharing a bite with Bubba, his dog.

The first picture looks wierd because the shutter failed to open all the way but I liked it so here it is!

Heidi and Cali's visit

Last night Heidi and Cali had supper and spent the night with us. Jacob, Kim and Evan came over too. We had lasgna and fruit pizza for supper then went over to Jacob and Kim's for the children to see the baby chicks and ducks.

Cali and Evan took turns swinging in the big kid swing, they feed the baby chicks and ducks and then had a ball sliding down the slide. Cali went down the slide like a little lady. Evan decided that going down backwards was more fun!

Billy took them riding in the mule. Cali had to have mama ride too but she had fun even with Evan driving!

Cali loved my little church music box. She sat in Billy's lap for quite a while watching the little preacher man come out the door then go back in . She would wave at him each time the doors opened and closed.

Front Porch

Last night Evan spent the night with us while his mama and daddy had a date night. After supper he and Billy picked blueberries.

After Evan got tired of picking blueberries I took Evan in for a bath. Billy came in a while later and tracked in blueberries from his shoes. While I was cleaning up the blueberry tracks Billy watched Evan in the tub. They heard the train coming so Billy grabbed Evan out of the tub and took him on the front porch to see the train. Unfortunately, he didn't put any clothes on Evan!

Evan just had a fine old time running around on the porch in his birthday suit!

Birthday Party - 2years old!

Today we had Evan's birthday party.... so this morning Billy and I took Evan off Kim's hand for a while so she could get ready for it. We took him to the Farmer's Market in Baxley. In the picture above he is lifting weights while he waits for Grandaddy to get his clothes changed.

It rained a good bit today but it cleared up enough for Evan and his friend to get outside and play.

Here Evan is blowing out the candles on his cake. He is in love with "choo choo's" right now so Kim made him a really cute "choo choo" cake.

Everyone who came to the party seemed to know of Evan's infatuation with "choo choos" so he got lots of train things. He was fascinated by this little battery powered train he received from Baby Daniel.

Aunt K K gave Evan one of his favorite gifts....a big ride on choo choo train. You can tell from his face that he loved it!
Aunt Coo Coo gave him his other favorite gift...a dozen baby ducks!
In the last video where he is riding his train, just after I cut off the video he turned around and said "I sorry" because he had bumped into Grandma Karales footstool. It was a slightly delayed apology but it was totally unprompted from the other adults present.

Evan and Easter

Evan, along with all the rest of the family, really had a great time at our family Easter gathering Saturday. Cousin John was there so he had a fun playmate and lots of adoring older cousins, aunts, parents and grandparents. While we were waiting for everyone to arrive he had to spend some time on his favorite activity...coloring. Aunt Karen and Cousin Mikella enjoyed coloring with him for a while. Of course, he hogged the table by sitting on it to color!

Mr. Nosey had to see what Mikella was doing on her phone!

And he's off on the hunt......
Finding eggs has gotten old...he's found something more interesting....ants!
The hunt is over...now its time for play.

Our New Yard Man!

Billy and I have discovered a new use for grandchildren! Short little grand babies are great for picking up sticks. They are low to the ground so they don't have to bend so far to get the sticks and they get really excited when they find another stick!!! Much cheaper than hiring a yard man! And ... much more entertaining!

Hair cut

"

I took Evan to get his 2nd haircut yesterday after school. I asked him did he want to get a haircut and he said "yes". He climbed up in the chair just fine but he started looking more and more upset as the haircut progressed. He was crying by the time Glenda got finished but he sat really still and let her cut it. Of course, he immediately stopped when she gave him a lollipop! He looks cute with his little boy haircut!
And ... yes!... I did get Kim's permission before I took him for his haircut!
Evan had a blast at our house yesterday afternoon. Billy and I took him outside and I thought he would just drop from exhaustion because he ran so much. First, he ran back and to from the drive way to the pond and threw rocks into the pond. The child has an arm! Then he had to go down the slide about a million times. After that he just wanted to run and us chase him til he fell. He would laugh and then get up and go again. We finally got him in the house to take a bath and we thought he would just conk out after that. But no... he had to read every book we have and still was not asleep when Kim came to get him at 9. Could it have been the lollipop and the ice cream that someone gave him????

Airplane Swing

Billy hung a chain for my hammock swing chair yesterday and we discovered that it also works great for the airplane swing we got Evan at the arts and crafts fair in Soperton before he was ever born. He's finally big enough to swing on it so he got to try it out for the first time today!

Tree Dedication

Evan came over for a visit today. Kim wasn't feeling very well so we took Evan to church with us the kept him most of the day. After lunch he enjoyed trying out my new hammock swing on the front porch. Billy and I finally got it hung yesterday. He enjoyed swinging in it until he realized he was about to fall asleep then he was ready to get out and go. We sat in the rocker on the front porch and read a couple of books until he fell asleep. While he was sleeping I got to try out my hammock chair. It was great!

We had a tree dedication ceremony this afternoon for Evan's tree. Evan helped plant the sign that Billy and I made for his tree he planted last weekend.

We called mama and daddy and got them over for the sign planting!

Evan wanted to make sure the sign was level!
