Building the Pump House

Granddaddy has been building a pump house for Jacob and Kim. Today Evan wanted to help with the construction. He put on his construction hat and his toolbelt and headed out to work.
At first he was very enthusiastic about his work!
He helped (and hindered) granddaddy a quite a bit.

He helped granddaddy measure the boards...
and marked  the lines while granddaddy held the square.
When he finished this task he took off his tool belt and hat and said he was ready to play!  So, Evan and I left Granddaddy to work while we headed off to the back yard to play.

So much fun for just $1

Billy went to an estate auction and bought these lego type block for $1. Evan has had a blast building different vehicles.
Here's a long one that he built.
He rolled his creation all around the rug.
Then he decided it could fly!
He and granddaddy supplied the "airplane" noises!

Sick Day

Evan spent the day with us on my birthday. He had been running a fever for several days and his mama wasn't sure he was well enough to go to school. He was still asleep when she brought him over and after his initial shock of waking up somewhere other than his own bed he was the perfect child.
He enjoyed eating a big breakfast and watching the news with Granddaddy.

After breakfast he took a looonngg bath. If he had a fever the bath cured it. So we played games and went to Burger King for lunch.
After lunch we practiced riding his tricyle and had races in the yard, then when it was time for a nap he climbed on the couch and asked to watch his Elmo video. When the video ended I looked in the den and this was how I found him...fast asleep on the couch!

A Day Out With Thomas

Evan had not only a day out with Thomas but a whole weekend.  Granddaddy and Mimi picked him up from school Friday and headed off to Ga Veteran's State Park in Cordele.  He was so excited!  He kept saying, "This is going to be the best trip EVER!!
When we arrived at the park we spotted Thomas on the track but he looked peculiar.  Evan said,"Where's his face?  I need to see his eyes!"  We went on to the campground and set up the camper.  Evan was very patient even when the power lift failed us and granddaddy had to crank up the camper by hand.  He kept us from getting frustrated because when the power lift failed and the camper crashed back down he said, " This is going to be the best trip ever!"  We laughed and just cranked her up by hand!  Then we headed down to the train depot to see if we could get up close and personal with Thomas.  Evan also wanted to find out where Thomas face was.
At the depot, all the volunteers were busy setting up for the big weekend with Thomas.  Of course, Granddaddy had to chat with all of them.  As a result, the volunteers told Evan to look around and take all the pictures he wanted!  The volunteers also told Evan that Thomas had his mask over his face so he could get rested up for the next two days when he would have to work very hard giving rides to all the little boys and girls.
This is the first picture Evan wanted to take.  He loves his John Deere Tractors!
Evan had to do this himself!  He climbed on the the steps all by himself to get this picture with Thomas.

After looking around at the depot,  Evan and Granddaddy got us some fire wood and made a nice neat stack of it.  Evan was a great help in stacking the wood.
Then they got the wood in the fire pit so it would be ready to light when it got dark.

Evan took a little break in the camper while he was waiting on his mama and daddy to arrive.
He watched part of his Mickey Mouse Choo Choo movie then went over to the playground and played "football" with two little boys about his age.
Mama and Daddy finally arrived and we had grilled hamburgers for supper and then enjoyed Granddaddy and Evan's fire.
Yai Yai, Papou and Grandma Karales arrived on Saturday morning to enjoy the day with Evan and Thomas.  Before our train ride Evan did lots of fun activities.  Here Yai Yai and Evan put Thomas stamps on his goodie bag.
Grandma and Papou enjoyed watching Evan's excitement over Thomas!
We almost didn't get Evan away from this activity.  Daddy enjoyed it too!
Evan got a Thomas the Train tattoo.
He insisted that Grandma get a tattoo too.  He picked out Thomas friend, the helicopter, for her.
Here Evan is inspecting Grandma's tattoo.
Grandma and Evan show off their tattoos!
Thomas is headed down the track to the depot. Yai Yai held Evan up so he could see him coming!
Here's Thomas....with his face!!
Mama, Daddy and Evan had picture taken with Thomas.  The professional picture turned out great!!!
We had fun getting on the train because grandma got to ride up on  a lift in her wheel chair and we all got to get on first since we were with her.  Evan sat in Grandma's lap most of the trip.

Thomas had his work cut out for him hauling all the cars filled with children and their families.  The conductor asked us to help Thomas get started!

By the end of the train ride Evan was getting a bit tired.  He didn't feel too well when he woke up and was running a slight temp.  Mama gave him some medicine and he perked up.
He got a second wind and did some more activities after the train ride.  Here he is doing the pumpkin toss....his way!
He played in the sand...
and played some golf.

He wanted to jump in the bounce house but by then was totally wiped out!  So Papou picked us all up in his van and took us to the Lodge for lunch.  Evan took a long nap and when he woke up he felt better.
After Evan's nap Yai Yai gave him his Halloween gifts and they enjoyed making Halloween decorations and doing puzzles together until supper time.  We grilled pork chops and sat around the fire until Papou, Yai Yai and Grandma went back to the Lodge to sleep.
As Evan said... It was the best trip EVER!!

Building a Flying Bat with Granddaddy

Today Evan went to Lowe's in Vidalia to build a flying bat with his granddaddy.  He was so excited!

Here he is getting on his safety gear.  He's got safetey goggles and his own builders apron!
The mighty duo is ready to build their bat!

Evan gets out all the parts of his bat.

"Granddaddy, I've got the wings!"

"Peace Man,  We've got this under control."  (Or maybe Mommy has!
Here's our completed bat!

We got a badge and certificate for successfully building our bat!
