Shrimp N Grits Festival on Jekyll Island
This weekend we went to the Shrimp n Grits Festival on Jekyll Island. We camped at the Jekyll Island campground with Jacob, Kim and Evan. Friday night we went to the Festival and sampled all the shrimp n grits from the various vendors. We all decided that the Jekyll Hotel's chef had the most delicious shrimp n grits but we didn't find a single one that wasn't delicious in its own way. Evan loved the shrimp n cheese grits he got. His was very simple but he really enjoyed it!
After we had our fill of shrimp n grits we listened to the music for a while. Evan wanted to dance to the music but the rest of us were too full of shrimp n grits to be good dance partners for him. So he just danced around by himself.
The festival also had an arts and crafts show with some really unsual exhibits. One of Evan's favorite exhibits was the sealife exhibit. He got to touch horse shoe crabs, look at some fish and play some games. He won a bag full of stuff from this exhibit when he played a game and correctly answered questions about what he had seen in the exhibit. I think his favorite thing he won was the dolphin stickers. Saturday Jacob and Evan went through the Sea Turtle Center and Evan won a baby turtle that was just hatching out of its egg (toy) for correctly answering questions about the turtles. After much thought he named the turtle Rocky. We've decided that Evan is going to be a fact sponge just like his daddy!
Below, Evan gets a lesson from Daddy on what he is seeing in the tank.

Friday night I caught a fold up frisbe for Evan. He insisted on calling it his "rugby". Saturday morning he and Billy enjoyed playing "rugby" while they waited for breakfast to be cooked.

Before Billy and Evan went off to play "rugby" together Evan got in a bit of trouble. He decided to butter the bench to the picnic table. Billy and I had a de ja vu moment. Guess Evan is pretty close kin to his Aunt Courtney. She buttered the utility room when she was his age. Kim had Evan clean up his mess!

Billy and Evan enjoyed reading a bedtime story in the camper. Evan supplied the light source.

Lumber City Farm City Day
Billy and I went to Lumber City to Farm City Day with Kim and Evan this morning. A couple was taking "chicken" pictures. They had several exotic and quite tame chickens and roosters that you could choose from for your picture. Of all the exotic feather legged and bare necked chickens, Evan chose this rooster that is just like the hen his daddy has at home. We made this picture just for Jacob since he has loved chickens since he was younger than Evan is now. This rooster was obviously used to having his picture taken. He let Evan pet him and did not try to get away when the lady just sat him down by Evan and was getting the rest of the scene together for the picture. The rooster would walk around on the hay bale abit but never tried to wander off. Even more impressive to me, he never tried to peck or spur any of us. I'm used to "mean" roosters that chase you around trees!

Bath time and Play Dough
For some reason Evan loves taking a bath at our house. We never have clean clothes for him but he doesn't care. He just loves to splash and play in the tub! Once he tires of the water he likes to escape and run around with no clothes. Below are some cute after bath pics! Don't worry...he's covered!

I took time out from my painting for a little play time with Evan.

Mama got Evan a Yellow Jacket "tartoo".

Granddaddy gets some snuggle time with Evan after his bath.

Kim made Evan some homemade play dough. I found some cookie cutters so Evan could make "cookies" for everyone.
