St.Simon's Adventure

The Knuchel's were down visiting this weekend and we all decided to ride down to St. Simon's for the afternoon. We took Evan out and let him walk the beach and wade in the water. The water was a little cold and at first he didn't like it too much but he soon started smiling as the waves washed up over his feet. Grandma Karales came along and enjoyed watching Evan from a nice rock on the beach. Granddaddy Bill kept her company while Yai Yai and Papou played with Evan in the water. After supper Evan had his first experience swinging all by himself. He really liked that! Kim found a cool tree limb and we had a photo shoot with Evan in the crook of the limb. When we tried to get the family shot you can see that Evan was having trouble paying attention. Something off to the side had caught his attention.

Evan's First Easter

Evan had his own private Easter Egg hunt this Easter. Mama, Aunt Courtney and Daddy helped him dye some eggs then he went out side and had fun "hunting" eggs. He really liked the bright shiny eggs his mama had gotten for him to hunt. He was so cute we ,of course, had to have a photo shoot.

Sleepy Time

The Johnston family spent the day at the JDH tennis match Saturday. Aunt Courtney and Uncle Sam got a new puppy for Grandma Treesy from the Barbeque wagon when they went to pick up some lunch and brought him back to the tennis match. Evan and the puppy had a good time playing with a little girl and visiting with Aunt Brenda and Susie. They had so much fun they never would take a nap. They finally conked out on the way home from the match.

Piano Man

Jacob and Courtney had Evan playing the piano tonight. We were amazed by his "finger" action. He didn't just bang the keys with his whole hand like most babies do. He mimicked Jacob and Courtney's finger movements too. He also seemed to have an ear for music. He would make loud sounds then carefully make very soft sounds. We may have a future Mozart!

Kissin' Cousins

Evan finally got to meet his cousin, Cali Rose, today. Heidi and Gonzo stopped by on the way to Jacksonville and had supper with us. Evan and Cali took to each other right away. They each wanted to pull the other's hair but neither seemed to care. They enjoyed scooting around on the floor together, tearing up magazines and listening to the pink pig sing. Both of them liked the tag on the pig! They are both such happy easy going babies!

We had been thinking Evan might be a little small for his age. Well.... we no longer think so. He looked like a giant next to Cali who is so tiny and delicate. She is just like Heidi used to be!

A Day Outside

Evan enjoyed spending lots of time outside today. The weather was perfect so we loaded up the wagon with a blanket and headed out to the pond. He enjoyed the ride out but was a little too nosey. He kept wanting to lean over to look over the side of the wagon. We had to go very slowly and walk backwards to make sure he didn't tumble over the side! Once we arrived at the pond we spread the blanket and played in the sun. He had to inspect the grass and feel of it. He crawled out on it one time but didn't like it so he crawled back on the blanket. After about 10 minutes we had to go and get an umbrella because the sun was rather intense. We were afraid he would get a sunburn since he is so white! Later in the afternoon we went for a ride in the Mule 500. We rode down the road by the pond, went in the old pasture to check on the new pine trees then headed down the road to Jacob and Kim's house. They were just about to walk over to our house with Evan's nice new red wagon to pick him up. We all decided to head out to the fair grounds to see if we could get tickets to the Steak Cook Off. Evan lasted through supper then when we got in the car to head home he got a bit fussy. He'd had a busy day and was totally exhausted by it all!

Evan goes to sea!

Jacob, Kim and Evan went with us to Jekyll yesterday afternoon. We got a room at the Oceanside Inn and Suites and spent the night. The room was on the 2nd floor and had a balcony that looked out onto the ocean. We got to Jekyll just about dark on Sunday afternoon and went for a walk on the beach. It was a bit cloudy but the moon was bright enough for us to see. We took Evan out but he fell asleep about halfway through the walk. Early this morning we took him out on the balcony for his first good look at the ocean. He took in all the details as usual. He really liked the seagulls that were flying near our balcony. We all went for an early morning stroll on the beach. Evan loved watching the waves. He would get really excited when one rolled up close to his stroller. Jacob took him out of the stroller and stuck his feet in the ocean but it was really cold water so Evan wasn't too happy about that . We found a dead fish (Jacob said it was a sturgeon) on the beach. Jacob showed it to Evan. Evan was fine looking at it from afar but didn't like it too well when Jacob tried to give him an up close look. It started drizzling rain while we were walking on the beach so we had to head back to the hotel. We checked out and went over to St. Simon's. We had breakfast at the 4th of May then walked around the shops and the pier on St. Simon's. Evan got him some beach shoes. He had a good time playing with them on the way back home.
