Camping with the Man!

lt on it

The Man went camping with us this weekend. Jacob and Kim went off to Brunswick to visit friends so we kept Evan from Friday through Sunday afternoon. Saturday, Billy and I packed up the camper and we took Evan down to the new campground at the river. We cooked out and had a campfire then played with Evan in the camper until he finally conked out. Evan's favorite place was on the bed that is made from the dining room table. We put a quilt on it and he had fun walking around on it and looking out the window. He and granddaddy had fun making faces at each other through the window. The mosquitos were pretty bad so we were very careful with Evan when we were outside. We didn't want him to get eaten up by mosquitos. We did great until we went to sleep. Some of the little buggers had sneaked into the camper so of course they choose to munch on Evan during the night. He woke up with several bites on his face and arms.
This weekend Evan got really brave about his walking. He just started taking off across the room even when no one was waiting with outstretched arms. Saturday, Billy left the den to go to the bathroom and Evan went after him. He walked all the way from the couch to the kitchen. I grabbed him just before he got to the step up to the kitchen. Sunday afternoon when Jacob and Kim came to get him he started doing the same thing. Unfortunately, he got excited because they were back and managed to fall flat on his face and cut his mouth with his teeth. He cried for a minute but didn't slow down for long. He was off again after a few minutes. I guess babies just don't feel pain like us old folks.

Chilin' on the Front Porch

While Aunt Courtney was home last weekend we had a visit from her friend (and now Evan's too), Niki Perry. We took these short little video's of everyone clapping and cheering, including Evan, while we were visiting on the front porch.

He Walks!!!

I went to visit Jacob and Kim this afternoon. Before I left I got Evan ready for bed. While we were in his room he decided to become a traveling man. He walked all the way across his room. Just watch the video. Jacob says in order to use his movie I have to link to his "Official Evan Blog" so click this link and take a look!.

St.Simon's Adventure

The Knuchel's were down visiting this weekend and we all decided to ride down to St. Simon's for the afternoon. We took Evan out and let him walk the beach and wade in the water. The water was a little cold and at first he didn't like it too much but he soon started smiling as the waves washed up over his feet. Grandma Karales came along and enjoyed watching Evan from a nice rock on the beach. Granddaddy Bill kept her company while Yai Yai and Papou played with Evan in the water. After supper Evan had his first experience swinging all by himself. He really liked that! Kim found a cool tree limb and we had a photo shoot with Evan in the crook of the limb. When we tried to get the family shot you can see that Evan was having trouble paying attention. Something off to the side had caught his attention.

Evan's First Easter

Evan had his own private Easter Egg hunt this Easter. Mama, Aunt Courtney and Daddy helped him dye some eggs then he went out side and had fun "hunting" eggs. He really liked the bright shiny eggs his mama had gotten for him to hunt. He was so cute we ,of course, had to have a photo shoot.

Sleepy Time

The Johnston family spent the day at the JDH tennis match Saturday. Aunt Courtney and Uncle Sam got a new puppy for Grandma Treesy from the Barbeque wagon when they went to pick up some lunch and brought him back to the tennis match. Evan and the puppy had a good time playing with a little girl and visiting with Aunt Brenda and Susie. They had so much fun they never would take a nap. They finally conked out on the way home from the match.

Piano Man

Jacob and Courtney had Evan playing the piano tonight. We were amazed by his "finger" action. He didn't just bang the keys with his whole hand like most babies do. He mimicked Jacob and Courtney's finger movements too. He also seemed to have an ear for music. He would make loud sounds then carefully make very soft sounds. We may have a future Mozart!
