Halloween 2009

Once upon a time a monkey went to a Fall Festival. It was a warm muggy night.

The monkey loved fishing!
and...sliding on the kiddie slide.

The Monkey was sad when the kiddie slide was too crowded because he wanted to slide again! Daddy made the monkey happy by taking him on the big kid slide as you will see in a minute.
The monkey got too hot and decided to shed his skin. His lucky mama won on the cupcake walk and shared her winnings.
The monkey finally got tired and was ready to go home. He and granddaddy decided to take a little rest while they waited for daddy to pick them up! The little monkey was tired but happy and headed home wearing his cupcake on his face!

Watch the monkey and his daddy come flying down the big kid slide!

Here the monkey's cupcake boogie helps his mama win a prize on the cupcake walk!

Bulldog Story

Evan stayed with us for a while yesterday afternoon while his mama and daddy played tennis in Macon. After school we went riding through all the mud puddles on the Mule and eventually wound up at his house. We spotted a white bulldog curled up on the front porch and since we didn' t know the dog we decided to head on back to our house. When Billy got home we went out to eat supper and then out to the horse auction for Evan to see the horses. He climbed the fences, played in the dirt and was amazed by the big horses. By this time it was around 7:30 so we headed home to take a bath. By the time we got home he was starting to fade and began to get a bit grumpy. He wanted his milk, refused to take a bath and then just sat on the floor snuffling. Billy and I tried to tease him out of it and finally I suggested we go to his house thinking he might go to bed if he was at his own house. So, Evan and I headed over to his house. When we drove up to the carport we saw the white bulldog again. Unfortunately, this time, she blocked the only door I had a key to. I tried honking the horn, yelling at her then waited for our dogs to get there thinking they would run her off. Well no....they liked her. Evan said the dogs were friends. I finally got out of the car and slowly approached the dog but as I got closer she started to growl. I quickly got back in the car. Evan and I discussed what we should do and he said, "We need Granddaddy!" So, we headed back to get Granddaddy. Billy said he would take the gun over and shoot it to scare the dog away. While Billy was getting the gun, I talked to Evan about how loud the gun would be when Granddaddy shot it and told him we would put our hands over our ears when he did so we wouldn't get scared. Evan promptly put his hands over his ears and kept them that way all the way back to his house. He and I stayed back in the car while Grandaddy drove the truck up to the carport. He got out and tried to scare the dog away without the gun first. The dog didn't budge. Finally he decide he would go around back and come on the screen porch and scare the dog away from inside. That finally worked. The dog ran off around the house. Evan, of course was watching the whole thing and when we finally got out of the car he said, "Granddaddy a tough man!" He and I decided to stay at his house while Granddaddy came home. He told Granddaddy he would "protect" me! So we snuggled on the couch, flew fire engines in the sky and sang "Snap, snap, crocodile fishing!" until mama and daddy got home!

Evan at Tugaloo!

Evan enjoyed a boat ride on Uncle Mike and Aunt Karen's pontoon boat. He had eagerly awaited his boat ride for a whole day.

Granddaddy had to hang on tight as he looked over the side of the boat!
Mama and daddy got a kick out of how much he enjoyed the boat!

But...the boat lulled him to sleep!

Its Never to Cold for a Child!

Evan is spending the weekend with us while his mom and dad play tennis on Hilton Head. This morning he found the float in Jacob's old room and wanted to go floating on the pond. I tried to convince him it was too cold. We went outside to check and he said "Its not too cold!". So we got the float and Billy tied a rope to it so he didn't have to get in the pond. We put Evan on the float and Billy pulled him around. When the water starting getting up on the float Evan decided it was time to get out. Guess it was a bit cold to him after all !

Evan & the truck!

Evan went to church with us this morning then we came home and made Kim a birthday dinner. Evan was really sleepy by the time we got home and got lunch ready so he didn't eat much. Kim put him down for a nap around 2 and he slept until after 5. When he woke up he was really grumpy because he was hungry but he was too grumpy to eat. Granddaddy had the bright idea of eating in the back of the truck. Evan face just lit up when granddaddy suggested this. So off the two of them went to the back of the truck with Evan's supper. Evan had a ball playing in the back of the truck and occasionally taking a bite of his food then sharing a bite with Bubba, his dog.

The first picture looks wierd because the shutter failed to open all the way but I liked it so here it is!

Heidi and Cali's visit

Last night Heidi and Cali had supper and spent the night with us. Jacob, Kim and Evan came over too. We had lasgna and fruit pizza for supper then went over to Jacob and Kim's for the children to see the baby chicks and ducks.

Cali and Evan took turns swinging in the big kid swing, they feed the baby chicks and ducks and then had a ball sliding down the slide. Cali went down the slide like a little lady. Evan decided that going down backwards was more fun!

Billy took them riding in the mule. Cali had to have mama ride too but she had fun even with Evan driving!

Cali loved my little church music box. She sat in Billy's lap for quite a while watching the little preacher man come out the door then go back in . She would wave at him each time the doors opened and closed.

Front Porch

Last night Evan spent the night with us while his mama and daddy had a date night. After supper he and Billy picked blueberries.

After Evan got tired of picking blueberries I took Evan in for a bath. Billy came in a while later and tracked in blueberries from his shoes. While I was cleaning up the blueberry tracks Billy watched Evan in the tub. They heard the train coming so Billy grabbed Evan out of the tub and took him on the front porch to see the train. Unfortunately, he didn't put any clothes on Evan!

Evan just had a fine old time running around on the porch in his birthday suit!
