Evan is a bit under the weather today so he is staying with Mimi and Granddaddy. Granddaddy fixed Evan letter pancakes for breakfast. He still remembered how to do that after 20 something years!
Evan helped Granddaddy make his name in pancakes.
Granddaddy made the letters huge so he had to squeeze in the last letter. Granddaddy had to ask Evan what letter he still needed to spell Evan's name. Evan told him to make an N.
Evan wanted peanut butter on his pancakes!
After breakfast Evan had to breath like a dragon. He didn't want to at first because he wanted to play games on nickjr.com. But finally came up with a solution...he could breath like a dragon first then play his games. Granddaddy and I thought that was an excellent suggestion!

The Faces of Evan
Evan has many faces! This is Evan's happy, peanut butter and jelly face. He's happy because he LOVES to come to Mimi's house and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don't think this always makes his mama too happy because after a good ole pb&j sandwich who wants dinner? The smile is extra wide because he is cuddling in his granddaddy's lap! Good thing that's an old shirt of granddaddy's.
Here are some examples of Evan concentrating face. In this picture he is making a bird feeder. First he has to coat a sugar cone with peanut butter.
Then he has to roll the coated cone in birdseeds.
And here's his special dessert face! Mimi made him a surprise dessert that he got to have once he ate his lunch. mmmm....chocolate pudding topped with cream cheesy coolwhip!
And here...he's just being silly!

Building the Pump House
Granddaddy has been building a pump house for Jacob and Kim. Today Evan wanted to help with the construction. He put on his construction hat and his toolbelt and headed out to work.
At first he was very enthusiastic about his work!
At first he was very enthusiastic about his work!
He helped (and hindered) granddaddy a quite a bit.
He helped granddaddy measure the boards...
and marked the lines while granddaddy held the square.
When he finished this task he took off his tool belt and hat and said he was ready to play! So, Evan and I left Granddaddy to work while we headed off to the back yard to play.

So much fun for just $1
Sick Day
Evan spent the day with us on my birthday. He had been running a fever for several days and his mama wasn't sure he was well enough to go to school. He was still asleep when she brought him over and after his initial shock of waking up somewhere other than his own bed he was the perfect child.
He enjoyed eating a big breakfast and watching the news with Granddaddy. After breakfast he took a looonngg bath. If he had a fever the bath cured it. So we played games and went to Burger King for lunch.
After lunch we practiced riding his tricyle and had races in the yard, then when it was time for a nap he climbed on the couch and asked to watch his Elmo video. When the video ended I looked in the den and this was how I found him...fast asleep on the couch!

Thomas Song
We rode a tram over to the depot for our ride on Thomas. Evan sang his Thomas song all the way there!
A Day Out With Thomas
Evan had not only a day out with Thomas but a whole weekend. Granddaddy and Mimi picked him up from school Friday and headed off to Ga Veteran's State Park in Cordele. He was so excited! He kept saying, "This is going to be the best trip EVER!!
At the depot, all the volunteers were busy setting up for the big weekend with Thomas. Of course, Granddaddy had to chat with all of them. As a result, the volunteers told Evan to look around and take all the pictures he wanted! The volunteers also told Evan that Thomas had his mask over his face so he could get rested up for the next two days when he would have to work very hard giving rides to all the little boys and girls.
This is the first picture Evan wanted to take. He loves his John Deere Tractors!
Evan had to do this himself! He climbed on the the steps all by himself to get this picture with Thomas.
After looking around at the depot, Evan and Granddaddy got us some fire wood and made a nice neat stack of it. Evan was a great help in stacking the wood.
Then they got the wood in the fire pit so it would be ready to light when it got dark.
Evan took a little break in the camper while he was waiting on his mama and daddy to arrive.
He watched part of his Mickey Mouse Choo Choo movie then went over to the playground and played "football" with two little boys about his age.
Mama and Daddy finally arrived and we had grilled hamburgers for supper and then enjoyed Granddaddy and Evan's fire.
Yai Yai, Papou and Grandma Karales arrived on Saturday morning to enjoy the day with Evan and Thomas. Before our train ride Evan did lots of fun activities. Here Yai Yai and Evan put Thomas stamps on his goodie bag.
Grandma and Papou enjoyed watching Evan's excitement over Thomas!
We almost didn't get Evan away from this activity. Daddy enjoyed it too!
Evan got a Thomas the Train tattoo.
He insisted that Grandma get a tattoo too. He picked out Thomas friend, the helicopter, for her.
Here Evan is inspecting Grandma's tattoo.
Grandma and Evan show off their tattoos!
Thomas is headed down the track to the depot. Yai Yai held Evan up so he could see him coming!
Here's Thomas....with his face!!
Mama, Daddy and Evan had picture taken with Thomas. The professional picture turned out great!!!
We had fun getting on the train because grandma got to ride up on a lift in her wheel chair and we all got to get on first since we were with her. Evan sat in Grandma's lap most of the trip.
By the end of the train ride Evan was getting a bit tired. He didn't feel too well when he woke up and was running a slight temp. Mama gave him some medicine and he perked up.
He got a second wind and did some more activities after the train ride. Here he is doing the pumpkin toss....his way!
He played in the sand...
and played some golf.
He wanted to jump in the bounce house but by then was totally wiped out! So Papou picked us all up in his van and took us to the Lodge for lunch. Evan took a long nap and when he woke up he felt better.
After Evan's nap Yai Yai gave him his Halloween gifts and they enjoyed making Halloween decorations and doing puzzles together until supper time. We grilled pork chops and sat around the fire until Papou, Yai Yai and Grandma went back to the Lodge to sleep.
As Evan said... It was the best trip EVER!!

| When we arrived at the park we spotted Thomas on the track but he looked peculiar. Evan said,"Where's his face? I need to see his eyes!" We went on to the campground and set up the camper. Evan was very patient even when the power lift failed us and granddaddy had to crank up the camper by hand. He kept us from getting frustrated because when the power lift failed and the camper crashed back down he said, " This is going to be the best trip ever!" We laughed and just cranked her up by hand! Then we headed down to the train depot to see if we could get up close and personal with Thomas. Evan also wanted to find out where Thomas face was. |

Thomas had his work cut out for him hauling all the cars filled with children and their families. The conductor asked us to help Thomas get started!
