Evan went fishing today for the first time in his life! Courtney and Sam gave him a fishing pole for his gift when he was in their wedding last spring. We finally got around to trying it out this morning. Evan helped his granddaddy rig up the spinner then they headed out to the pond. We couldn't believe that little child size spinner could catch such big catfish! Evan caught his first fish just as soon as granddaddy threw out the line. He was so excited. He caught six fish. Mama came over later and caught two fish so it's fish fry time tonight! Enjoy the slide show of Evan's first fishing experience!

Cali and Evan: The Next Morning
Breakfast time! He's not trying to hit her...he's trying to get her to give him a high five! It was hilarious because they never could hit each others hands!
Such a smiling face...so early in the morning! Cali was up and having breakfast while we let her mama catch a few extra winks!
Evan and Cali have a pillow fight with their favorite sleepy time toys!
Here's our two monkeys enjoying their favorite food!

Cali and Evan
They watched cartoons while Mimi finished getting the picnic supper ready...
walked on the stepping stones to inspect Granddaddy's birdhouse...
had a picnic on the patio...
went wading in the pond ...
had some serious conversations...
splashed each other...
got really cold...
wrapped up in a towel...
and at last fell asleep together!

Preparingfor a Marathon!
Evan came over today to help his daddy prepare for a Triathlon. Here is one of the conversations we had with him while his daddy was swimming.

Evan wanted to swim with Jacob but the water was just too cold for him
So he climbed the ladder (with a little help from Daddy and Granddaddy) to get out of the cold pond.
He sat with Granddaddy a few minutes while he warmed up.
Then he discovered that the water at the edge of the pond was warm so he marched around in it for awhile.
When they were through swimming, Daddy had to carry him over the rocks in the drive so he wouldn't hurt his feet.
I took one picture that I can't post. Evan had to go potty and didn't wait for anyone to help or to go to the house!

Dragon Breathing
Evan is a bit under the weather today so he is staying with Mimi and Granddaddy. Granddaddy fixed Evan letter pancakes for breakfast. He still remembered how to do that after 20 something years!
Evan helped Granddaddy make his name in pancakes.
Granddaddy made the letters huge so he had to squeeze in the last letter. Granddaddy had to ask Evan what letter he still needed to spell Evan's name. Evan told him to make an N.
Evan wanted peanut butter on his pancakes!
After breakfast Evan had to breath like a dragon. He didn't want to at first because he wanted to play games on nickjr.com. But finally came up with a solution...he could breath like a dragon first then play his games. Granddaddy and I thought that was an excellent suggestion!

The Faces of Evan
Evan has many faces! This is Evan's happy, peanut butter and jelly face. He's happy because he LOVES to come to Mimi's house and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don't think this always makes his mama too happy because after a good ole pb&j sandwich who wants dinner? The smile is extra wide because he is cuddling in his granddaddy's lap! Good thing that's an old shirt of granddaddy's.
Here are some examples of Evan concentrating face. In this picture he is making a bird feeder. First he has to coat a sugar cone with peanut butter.
Then he has to roll the coated cone in birdseeds.
And here's his special dessert face! Mimi made him a surprise dessert that he got to have once he ate his lunch. mmmm....chocolate pudding topped with cream cheesy coolwhip!
And here...he's just being silly!

Building the Pump House
Granddaddy has been building a pump house for Jacob and Kim. Today Evan wanted to help with the construction. He put on his construction hat and his toolbelt and headed out to work.
At first he was very enthusiastic about his work!
At first he was very enthusiastic about his work!
He helped (and hindered) granddaddy a quite a bit.
He helped granddaddy measure the boards...
and marked the lines while granddaddy held the square.
When he finished this task he took off his tool belt and hat and said he was ready to play! So, Evan and I left Granddaddy to work while we headed off to the back yard to play.
